I'm Scott Schofield, a keen advocate of all-things "alternative".

I believe that what is today called Alternative Medicine offers a genuine option in the treatment of many health related problems today.

Many of today's most successful drugs were derived from entirely natural souces (for instance - Aspirin comes from the bark of a tree!), yet many of today's younger pharmaceutical developers seem to have lost this knowledge, and disparage everything unless it is created in a test tube inside a multi-billion dollar drug-development complex.

It shouldn't be like that. Many of the most successful and widely used alternative treatments of today derive from remedies going back thousands of years, others are only very recent discoveries, but they still derive from the natural world around us and they ARE effective.

My own professional expertise is in acupuncture, an system developed in China and the far East over many thousands of years, and still much-derided by health professionals in the west.

Basically, if the health-professionals don't understand something, it must be nonsense! They seem unwilling or unable to accept the premise that there just might be another equally-effective solution to a medical problem.

In many cases, the alternatives are FAR more successful, FAR less expensive, and have FAR less side effects.
