Cystitis? Will You Tell Him?

Dr LizWould You Treat a
Cystitis Infection
and not tell
your partner?..

Is regular sex central to your life and in your relationships? (For most of us it is, even if we have trouble in admitting it - even to ourselves).

Your difficulty is that even if sex is not particularly significant to you personally, and you can properly say that you would still be content if your relationship had little no sex within it - would your partner say the same thing?

A true and loving partner will probably put up with a lot - you gain some weight, your bad temper gets worse, maybe depression or tiredness - especially if they know that you are unwell and have no control over your condition.

But no sex??? For many partners that would be a real test of relationship!

So you have, and need to cure, cystitis / UTI. You also have a devoted long-term partner. What will you do?

Do you really know him or her that well? Will they really be sympathetic and supportive? After all, a UTI or bladder infection is not like putting on a few pounds, or being cranky, or having a broken leg. Those conditions might make things tricky in bed (especially that broken leg), but at least your partner can't catch a broken arm or depression from you after a vigorous hour or so - unless they fell out of bed anyway!

But a Urinary Tract Infection is way different! In spite of the fact that much of the population has had a UTI at some time; in spite of the fact that Cystitis is not life-threatening; and in spite of the fact that cystitis or UTI is not regarded as a sexual disease; - for many people it is still an embarrassing illness. No-one talks about bladder infections in mixed company or at a party!

And if you do pluck up the courage to talk about it? Well, you'll without doubt separate your best friends from the rest. Everyone will feel sorry for you and comfort you, but only your best friends will always be there to support you when you need them.

What about your sexual partner? Well now, that's a whole different situation, because unlike your other ailments, UTIs and Cystitis CAN be transferred to a someone else during sex.

So will you tell them then? A partner who really loves you will probably be supportive - at first anyway - and be ready and willing to abstain from sexual relations until your treatment can be started and is taking effect.

The trouble is, antibiotic treatment of cystitis may not be immediately effective, or lasting, especially when using prescription antibiotics.

Antibiotics don't permanently get rid of UTI and cystitis bugs in the urinary tract that are causing the condition, and now that doctors prescribe ever shorter courses of antibiotics in the interests of preventing them becoming ever less effective, infections can and frequently do return, often easily and more often.

In such a situation a dutiful lover could gradually become less understanding, less patient and less loving. It's all about the way our brains are wired - if we usually get sex several times a week, and then it's withdrawn, we get tetchy, irritable and - eventually - irrational. Although we know perfectly well that having a urinary tract infection isn't our partner's fault, we do eventually start to blame them and start looking for alternatives.

So one solution for the UTI sufferer is "don't tell your partner", but that won't work if you feel so bad because of the infection that you just don't want any sex any way.

You can go to a doctor, and get another prescription for antibiotics, take a substantial initial dose in the hope of quickly killing the infection, (and risk the nasty side-effects that can result from killing off most of your good bacteria in your digestive system too).

WHAT's THE ALTERNATIVE??
Or you could look around at traditional alternative remedies. There is a really great one for effectively treating cystitis, bladder infections and UTIs.

Drink Mannose and Cure Cystitis Graphic 1It is variously called Mannose, D-Mannose or Waterfall D Mannose (no, I don't know why). It's a very unusual remedy because it works differently from most other cystitis remedies.

It will pass (almost) straight through your urinary system sucking up all those nasty cystitis-causing bugs clinging to your bladder walls, and hold them in suspension until you next expel them by urination.

Now that's easy eh?

In a majority of cases Mannose starts working in less than an hour, and for most sufferers, just regular small daily doses will prevent Cystitis, Bladder Infections and UTIs almost indefinitely.

Long-time cystitis sufferers who have suffered several earlier attacks will need to take more doses and for longer, but most sufferers recover more quickly and more permanently than those relying entirely on antibiotics.
Mannose is cheap, and needs no doctor's prescription.

Mannose is a genuine alternative remedy for cystitis. There are comprehensive and steadily growing Mannose Information pages here at my health blog-site, where the answers to most of the common questions by cystitis-sufferers are available for free (not only about how mannose works to treat cystitis, but also a lot of stuff about Cystitis, Bladder Infections and UTIs in general).
